How To Tell If You’ve Had Too Much Of The 90s

You tried to enter your password on the microwave.

You now think of three espressos as “getting wasted.”

You haven’t played solitaire with a real deck of cards in years.

You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3

You e-mail your son in his room to tell him that dinner is ready, and he e-mails you back “What’s for dinner?”

Your daughter sells Girl Scout Cookies via her web site.

You chat several times a day with a stranger from Australia, but you haven’t spoken to your next door neighbor yet this year.

You didn’t give your valentine a card this year, but you posted one for your e-mail buddies via a web page.

Your daughter just bought a C.D. of all the records your college roommate used to play.

You check the ingredients on a can of chicken noodle soup to see if it contains Echinacea.

Your grandmother clogs up your e-mail Inbox, asking you to send her an image of your newborn so she can create a screen saver.

You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone IS home.

Remember when

The 1990s, was the decade of the heyday of flannel shirts, Walkmans, and questionable fashion choices. Let’s stroll down memory lane, shall we?

First up, the beloved Tamagotchis. Those little digital pets were all the rage, and if you didn’t have one, well, you were practically an outcast in the schoolyard. We spent hours feeding, cleaning, and playing with those pixelated critters, praying they wouldn’t meet a virtual demise.

And how could we forget the iconic duo of boy bands and girl groups? Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Spice Girls – they ruled the airwaves, and their posters adorned our bedroom walls, causing our parents to wonder if we’d ever grow out of this “phase.”

Speaking of fashion, let’s talk about the high-waisted jeans and the obsession with denim overall. We strutted around like we were the coolest cats in town, but let’s be honest, looking back at those photos, we can’t help but chuckle at our style choices.

Oh, and the internet! Dial-up connections, Geocities websites, and AOL Instant Messenger – those were the days. We had to endure the agonizing sound of dial-up connecting, only to have our connection drop if someone picked up the phone. But hey, it was worth it for those glorious chatroom conversations and creating our very first email addresses.

Lastly, who could forget the magic of Disney movies? The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast – they were our escape to a whole new world (see what I did there?). We belted out “Hakuna Matata” like it was our personal anthem.

The 1990s were a time of unforgettable memories. It’s a decade that holds a special place in our hearts, and though we may laugh at some of the trends now, they were the defining moments of our childhood.

So, here’s to the totally rad ’90s, a time of slap bracelets, Lisa Frank, and endless Saturday morning cartoons. It may have been two decades ago, but it’ll forever be etched in our minds as the time of our lives!
